U10 Rules

U10 Laws of the Game Modifications

Law 1: Field of Play

  1. 55yds x 35yds

Law 2: The Ball

  1. #4 size ball will be used

Law 3: The Players

  1. Each team will consist of 7 players including a goalkeeper.

Law 4: The Player’s Equipment

  1. Players are required to wear shin guards under their socks for training and games.
  2. Players are required to wear soft cleats or tennis shoes.
  3. Uniforms for games are:
  1. Home Team (WHITE Jersey, Black Shorts, Black Socks)
  2. Away Team (YELLOW Jersey, Black Shorts, Black Socks)

Law 5: The Referee

  1. A referee will be provided for the match in this age division.

Law 7: Duration of the Match

  1. Games will consist of two 25 minutes halves.  There will be a five-minute halftime.

Law 8: The Start and Restart of Play

  1. Alternating teams will kick off from the center of the field at the beginning of each quarter.

Law 9, 15, 16, 17: The Ball In and Out of Play, Throw-in, Goal Kicks & Corner Kicks

  1. Throw-ins, corner kicks and goal kicks will be utilized per FIFA rules.  However, during goal kicks, the defending team must retreat to the (Build-out Line).
  1. If a goalkeeper decides to play the ball quickly, the defending team will not be penalized if they have not had time to retreat.
  1. Goalkeepers are not allowed to punt.  Building out of the back is suggested to develop good play.
  2. After a goal is scored, play will begin with a kick-off from the center of the field.

Law 11: Offside

  1. Offside will be called according to FIFA rules.

Law 12: Fouls and Misconduct

  1. There is to be no intentional heading
  1. For a player that constantly breaks this rule, an indirect kick can be awarded to the other team at the spot of the foul.
  1. There is to be no slide tackles
  1. For a player that constantly breaks this rule, an indirect kick can be awarded to the other team at the spot of the foul.

* For all rules not modified above, FIFA rules will apply.  

All Age Levels

Behavior: Coaches are responsible for the behavior of fans and players.  In games involving a referee, the referee will require the coach to admonish, warn, or dismiss any fan whose behavior is deemed unacceptable by the game official. Should no coach recognize the offender, the home coach is responsible.
