U6 Rules

U6 Laws of the Game Modifications

 

Law 1: Field of Play

  1. 20yds x 15yds

Law 2: The Ball

  1. #3 size ball will be used

Law 3: The Players

  1. Each team will have a maximum of four players on the field.  (No goalkeepers will be used)

Law 4: The Player’s Equipment

  1. Players are required to wear shin guards under their socks for training and games.
  2. Players are required to wear soft cleats or tennis shoes.
  3. Uniforms for games are:
  1. Home Team (WHITE Jersey, Black Shorts, Black Socks)
  2. Away Team (YELLOW Jersey, Black Shorts, Black Socks)

Law 5: The Referee

  1. No official referees in this age division.  Coaches will call fouls if necessary with hopes to keep game play moving as much as possible.

Law 7: Duration of the Match

  1. Games will consist of four 8 minutes quarters.  There will be a two-minute break between quarters and a five-minute half time break.

Law 8: The Start and Restart of Play

  1. Alternating teams will kick off from the center of the field at the beginning of each quarter.

Law 9, 15, 16, 17: The Ball In and Out of Play, Throw-in, Goal Kicks & Corner Kicks

  1. When the ball goes out of bounds from any sideline or goal line, play will be restarted by the coaches saying “ball in” and rolling a ball back into the field of play.
  2. There will be no throw-ins, goal kicks or corner kicks.
  3. After a goal is scored, play will begin with a kick-off from the center of the field.

Law 11: Offside

  1. There will be no offside calls, however, the practice of “cherry picking” in order for a player to score goals is not allowed.

Law 12: Fouls and Misconduct

  1. There is to be no intentional heading
  1. For a player that constantly breaks this rule, an indirect kick can be awarded to the other team at the spot of the foul.
  1. There is to be no slide tackles

All Age Levels

Behavior: Coaches are responsible for the behavior of fans and players.  In games involving a referee, the referee will require the coach to admonish, warn, or dismiss any fan whose behavior is deemed unacceptable by the game official. Should no coach recognize the offender, the home coach is responsible.
